![]() That sounds about right! Saturday, August 24th is the 2oth Anniversary of the Fish Party and for the first time ever, we're ready to roar with a different theme in honor of the milestone. The Fish Party, where Hearts in a Box was formulated years ago, is to be no more. The Taritas family sold their Kenai River fish camp in Alaska, and although we'll be fish-free, this year's event promises to be swell! The bee's knees! The cat's meow!
We're trading fish for flappers and hoofing the night away with a Roaring '20s party, complete with food and drinks (illegally) popular during the time and dancing to Jazz Age classics like the Charleston and Makin' Whoopee. This private invitation-only fundraiser will charge a $20/person speakeasy cover charge which includes appetizers catered by Brewed Awakenings Cafe in Saline and dinner by Katherine's Catering in Ann Arbor, plus beer, wine, and soft drinks. Prohibition cocktails, like the Bee's Knees and the Mary Pickford, will be available at the cash bar. Our traditional product donation boxes will be also be on hand for toiletries and other items collected for our military and we will also be offering the Adopt-a-Box program again. All proceeds from the cover charge and other donations go 100% to fund our 2019 Hearts and Heroes program. That's no phonus balonus! We can't wait to post gangster and moll photos from our spiffy speakeasy. In the meantime, we'll be moving our getaway sticks, getting ready to make this the swankiest event of the season. |
